Life-Changing Discoveries: My Introduction to Blogging On February 28 th  in 1953, Cambridge University Scientists James Watson and Francis Crick discovered that DNA was a double-helix polymer (a spiral of two DNA strands with connectors) replicating itself to become the template for a new double-helix.
