DNA Discovery Changes Everything

Life-Changing Discoveries:
My Introduction to Blogging

On February 28th in 1953, Cambridge University Scientists James Watson and Francis Crick discovered that DNA was a double-helix polymer (a spiral of two DNA strands with connectors) replicating itself to become the template for a new double-helix. Later, they announced their discovery in a local pub boldly declaring, “We had found the secret of life”. Really, they weren’t far off because the genetic instructions which are contained within each strand of DNA replicate themselves by passing the information of life on to new generations.  https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/watson-and-crick-discover-chemical-structure-of-dna Their breakthrough discovery was a game-changer on so many levels.

First things, first. William Wordsworth said, “To begin, begin.” I need to start with a confession; it’s been hard to get started writing here.

My first blog must begin with the “why” of Spiritual DNA.

The guiding purpose for my entering the world of blogging is to do my best to become a voice calling God’s people to a fresh discovery and application of the missionary DNA that was first seen in the life of Jesus Christ in the Gospels and then, replicated from the believers and churches in the Book of Acts. I believe that the spiritual DNA of a church on mission is the secret to multiplying and replicating the life and heartbeat of the first century church in the twenty-first century where we find ourselves.

My own DNA discovery is illustrated with this graphic:

·         Are you tired of dealing with mutations in your life and within your church?
o   Each principle has a corresponding modern mutation, my aim in writing this blog is to regularly address those mutations and challenge you to activate the spiritual DNA in your life.
·         Does missional living seem impossible to you?
o   Each principle was instilled within those first disciples by Jesus Christ as he daily modeled and taught missional living before them, my aim in writing this blog is to show you how through walking in the Holy Spirit you can live like Jesus—expressing His missionary DNA.
·         How can our church experience revival and awakening like those new churches in Acts?
o   Each church plant in the Book of Acts demonstrated the strands of spiritual DNA and excelled in at least one of the principles, my aim in writing this blog is to help you learn from those first churches for missional revival today.
·         How can God use me to make a difference in a Book of Acts style?
o   Each pastor and church leader are called to be a catalyst for missional revival, my aim in writing this blog is to encourage you in that God-given assignment.

So, there you have it...my first post. Watch for regular blogs and collective postings. Of course, I'd be honored and grateful if you were to get your copy of my book and the workbook The Spiritual DNA of a Church on Mission either on the Broadman Holman Academic; Wordsearch platform, Amazon (electronic version is coming soon) or on other book providers on the world-wide web. www.bobburton.net  Thank you for taking the time to read and know that I'm praying for you.

Question for Today: How might the biblical rediscovery of the missionary DNA be a spiritual game-changer for you and your church?
